CTOnews.com, January 24 (Xinhua) Chess website Chess.com launched five very cute machine "kittens" Mittens earlier this month, resulting in an average of 2750 games a day. This also puts serious pressure on the Chess.com server, causing 502 data connection errors.

CTOnews.com learned that Chess.com said in a blog post updated today: "our servers are struggling, especially during the peak hours between noon and 4 p.m. Eastern time."

"We also know that 502 errors can be extremely frustrating, and we apologize for these problems," Chess.com said in a blog post.

"there were 31.7 million games on January 20 alone, which is a website record, and we now often see more than 1 million games per hour," Chess.com added in a blog post.
