January 24, Monday, local time, chipmaker Intel said that its chairman, Omar Ishrak, has resigned and board director Frank Yeary will replace him.

Pat Gelsinger, chief executive of ▲ Frank Yeri Intel, said: "Ishrak played an important role in bringing me back to the company as chief executive and fostered a resilient working atmosphere in the board and management team."
Gelsinger, a former chief executive of VMware, returned to Intel as chief executive in 2021 to reform and restructure the company to catch up with its competitors.
Under Mr Gelsinger's leadership, Intel has been investing more to build chip plants in the US and Europe.
"while the company certainly faces a difficult task, I firmly believe that we have the right strategy," says Mr Yeri. "
Yeri has been a director of Intel since 2009 and is currently a board member of PayPal, Intel subsidiary Mobileye and a number of private companies.
Ishrak served as chief executive of Medtronic, a medical equipment maker, for nearly nine years and became chairman of Intel in 2020. Intel said Ishrak would continue to serve as an independent director of the company's board of directors.
