CTOnews.com, January 23 (Xinhua)-- Apple became the first Indian company in December to exceed the milestone of $1 billion (currently about 6.78 billion yuan, 81 billion rupees) in smartphone exports in a single month, according to the latest export data. the company just overtook Samsung to become India's largest smartphone exporter in November last year.

Meanwhile, India's total electronics exports reached $16.69 billion in December, up 51.56 per cent from $10.99 billion in the same period last year.

According to reports, the rise in the value of Apple's exports in India coincides with the increase in Indian manufactured electronics exports, with Indian factories growing by more than 51% year-on-year in the last three quarters of 2022.

Currently, Apple has three contract manufacturers in India, Foxconn and Pegatron, and currently produces iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus devices in India. In addition, Apple also has some smaller contract manufacturers that also export iPhone from India.

CTOnews.com inquiries learned that Foxconn and Pegatron's Indian plants are located in Tamil Nadu, while Witron has a branch in Karnataka. According to ET News, these companies will contribute to India's target of US $9 billion in mobile phone exports by 2023.
