CTOnews.com, January 22 (Xinhua)-- Stellantis will stop production at its Atessa van factory in Italy next week due to a shortage of parts.

The FIM, UILM and Fismic unions said in a statement that the shutdown would affect most of the workers at the plant. Nicola Manzi, local director of the UILM metal machinery union, said the shortage involved parts that use microchips, as well as other small parts.

CTOnews.com learned that the Atessa plant, located in the Abruzzo region in central Italy, with more than 5000 workers and an annual production capacity of more than 300000 vehicles, is the largest van manufacturer in Europe, producing light commercial vehicles from Fiat, Peugeot, Citroen and Toyota.
