However, Robbie Khan, editor of today's foreign media Neowin, wrote that his 990 PRO suffered from a rapid decline in health a few days after purchase, while Samsung officials refused to guarantee it.

According to the article, just a few days after purchasing the 990 Pro 2TB, according to SMART data from Samsung Magician and third-party tools, the health of the SSD has dropped to 99%, while a Samsung SSD he previously purchased has been written to more than 40TB and is still 99% healthy after 1.5 years of use, so the newly purchased SSD is obviously abnormal.

After another day or so, the health of the 990 Pro dropped to 98%, and at this time, it was not even filled with 2TB. A few days later, the health of the hard drive dropped to 95%.

The editor found out online that other users were experiencing the same problem. He then contacted Samsung Memory Aftermarket by phone and was told that it was normal for health to drop by a few percentage points, and if it continued to decline, he could apply for warranty.

CTOnews.com learned that the drive's health dropped to 94 percent, so Khan applied for a warranty from Samsung. But what angered him was that Samsung said it didn't find any problems with the SSD and didn't meet the warranty conditions, so it returned to the original route. After receiving the return, Khan checked and found that Samsung did not do anything except format the SSD, including firmware reset, etc., and the health level was still 94%.

Khan said he was confused and had provided all the requested details and screenshots as evidence, but Samsung's aftermarket personnel said they had not detected the problem. Khan wrote back asking for confirmation in writing that such a decline in health was normal in such a short period of time with so little data being written to the hard drive. However, it has been five days and no reply has been received from Samsung.
