CTOnews.com, January 22, SEA Electric announced that it will retrofit 8500 Toyota Hylax (Hilux) and Land Cruiser (Landcruiser) for mining. The deal, in partnership with MEVCO, is reported to be worth more than $700m.

The company said the Hilux pickup and Landcruiser SUV will be available in either AWD or RWD models, as well as two battery packs-88 kWh or 60 kWh. According to SEA, vehicles equipped with 88 kWh battery packs will provide a range of about 236 miles (about 379.81km), compared with 161 miles (about 259.1km) for the 60-kWh version.

In addition to the above Toyota models, the powertrain can also be used in a variety of other pick-up trucks / SUV, trucks, garbage trucks and even school buses.
