CTOnews.com January 22 news, according to foreign technology media Sammyfans reported that Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, Galaxy S22 Ultra in December last year after the installation update, there have been many problems such as excessive power consumption, serious heat, performance degradation. And after installing the January patch, things got worse.

CTOnews.com checked user feedback on social media, Samsung's official support community and Reddit community to discuss that these problems may be caused by the chip production process. The Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chips currently used in this series are partially manufactured by Samsung Foundry.

Users discussed that Samsung Foundry's manufacturing process was not up to standard, resulting in the inability to properly dissipate heat from the SoC, which would occur in the user experience. However, Galaxy S22 sold in some countries such as India are not affected by this issue, which mainly occurs on Exynos 2200 models.

The media believes that the chipset performance of Exynos 2200 is insufficient, but it is also equipped with a powerful GPU, so it cannot dissipate heat quickly, and the high temperature causes the CPU clock frequency to decrease by 0.61GHz. To bring the world's most powerful GPU, Samsung partnered with AMD and used the Xclipse GPU in the Exynos 2200.

Due to Exynos fever and Foundry productivity issues, Samsung turned to Qualcomm and decided to drop its homegrown SoC from the Galaxy S series. This year, the Galaxy S23 series uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset manufactured by TSMC worldwide.

The media hopes that Samsung will solve the battery consumption and heat generation problems of Galaxy S22 devices through firmware updates as soon as possible. Samsung may not be able to fundamentally solve this hardware problem even if it pushes hundreds of firmware updates, but at least it can reduce or optimize this problem by modifying the code.
