CTOnews.com has reported that in October 2022, USB-IF released USB4 version 2.0 specification, which can achieve 80Gbps transmission performance, and the related USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (USB PD) specifications have also been updated. According to reports, under the USB4 version 2.0 specification, the USB Type-C signal interface can also be asymmetrically configured to provide a speed of up to 120 Gbps in one direction while maintaining a speed of 40 Gbps in the other direction.

At present, many high-end 4K monitors choose to support USB-C one-line connected notebooks. After the USB4 2.0 solution with 80Gbps bandwidth is available, some 4K 144Hz monitors or 6K or 8K monitors can also easily connect laptops through the USB-C line.

With regard to the 240W PD 3.1 power specification, USB IF expects 240W PD power to be launched this Christmas. However, according to industry insiders, 140W PD3.1 EPR program will not be able to land notebook products in a short period of time, and each company has adopted a "magic change" scheme, waiting for a new PD controller. Therefore, the 240W PD 3.1 power supply scheme will take more time to land the notebook.
