CTOnews.com, January 21 (Xinhua)-- Samsung is committed to improving its device ecosystem and connectivity between different devices through the SmartThings platform, as revealed on CES 2023. As part of its new strategy, Samsung is launching a massive update of the SmartThings on its Galaxy Watch line of smartwatches. This update brings more convenient control to the user's wrist connection device.

The update of SmartThings version 1.1.08 on Galaxy Watch brings a number of key improvements and new features. First, Samsung Galaxy Watch users can now swipe from the dial to the right to access the SmartThings.

Now, for the first time, Samsung Galaxy Watch users can control more Samsung and third-party devices, including SmartTag, air purifiers, thermostats and blinds. These device categories were previously controlled only through SmartThings on smartphones, but Samsung has now added support for Galaxy smartwatches.

CTOnews.com learned that thanks to this SmartThings update, Galaxy Watch users can now broadcast home and doorbell cameras directly to their wrists from Next and Ring cameras (which support WebRTC). They can also use Galaxy Watch to talk to guests remotely.

In addition, Galaxy Watch users can now start / stop ringing and control the ring volume of the SmartTag. They can also adjust the fan speed of the air purifier and set the temperature of the thermostat. You can open, close, pause and adjust the height of the blinds-all from their Galaxy watches.

Last but not least, Galaxy Watch users can now remotely control and connect to smart TVs through the newly added device-to-device (D2D) control function. This applies to Samsung smart TVs that support BTHID and require devices within the Bluetooth range.

The latest SmartThings update applies to the Galaxy Watch series of watches running WearOS, namely Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
