CTOnews.com On January 21, Microsoft announced that Azure OpenAI services are now officially released on Microsoft's global Azure platform, another milestone in Microsoft's popularization of artificial intelligence and continued collaboration with OpenAI.

With the official release of Azure OpenAI services, more enterprise users can access the world's advanced AI models to create innovative applications, including GPT-3.5, Codex and DALL·E 2-trusted enterprise-class services and infrastructure optimized for AI based on Microsoft Azure. In the near future, users will be able to quickly access ChatGPT through Azure OpenAI services. ChatGPT is a fine-tuned version of GPT-3.5, trained on Azure AI and running reasoning through Azure AI's infrastructure.

Microsoft launched Azure OpenAI Services Preview in November 2021, enabling customers to tap into the capabilities of large-scale generative AI models while meeting enterprise customer expectations for Azure cloud infrastructure-security, reliability, compliance, data privacy and built-in Responsible AI capabilities.

Azure OpenAI services provide enterprises and developers with production-scale, high-performance AI models and industry-leading uptime. It also powers Microsoft's own products and services, including: GitHub Copilot, an AI companion programmer that helps developers write better code;Power BI, which automatically generates formulas and expressions using natural language supported by GPT-3; and the recently released Microsoft Designer, which helps creators build great content using natural language cues.

CTOnews.com learned that Azure provides the core computing power behind the research development and developer development family of models for OpenAI APIs. Azure is currently the only global public cloud offering AI supercomputers with massive scale up and scale out capabilities.

Microsoft iterates over large models, working more closely with partners OpenAI and customers to carefully evaluate usage scenarios, learn, and address potential risks. In addition, Microsoft has adopted protections for Azure OpenAI services that are compliant with Responsible AI principles. As part of the Limited Access Framework, developers are required to request access to describe the intended use scenario or application before gaining access to the service. Content filters are specifically designed to capture abusive, hateful and offensive content, providing continuous monitoring of service input as well as generated content. If a policy violation is confirmed, Microsoft may require the developer to take immediate action to prevent further abuse.
