This is the latest sign of the acceleration of layoffs in the US technology industry. On January 18, Google rival Microsoft announced that it would cut 10, 000 jobs by the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2023.

According to the report, the layoffs will affect the entire company's team, including recruitment and some corporate functions, as well as some engineering and product teams.

CTOnews.com learned that Google said the job cuts were global and would immediately affect American employees.

In the third quarter of fiscal 2022, Alphabet's total revenue was $69.092 billion (currently about 468.444 billion yuan), up 6 percent from a year earlier, while Alphabet's net profit was $13.91 billion (currently about 94.31 billion yuan), down 26.5 percent from a year earlier, according to the financial report.
