Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Since its launch at the end of 2022, artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT has become popular all over the world in the fields of education, writing, programming and so on. Now, the chat robot is also popular among company bosses who attend Davos, who use it to write work emails.
Jeff Maggioncalda, chief executive of Coursera, an online learning service, said he was stunned when he first tried ChatGPT. Now, ChatGPT has become an important part of his daily life.
Maggionkalda uses ChatGPT to write an email and uses it to give a speech "in a friendly, optimistic and authoritative tone". He even uses ChatGPT to help analyze major strategic issues, such as how Coursera should integrate AI tools such as ChatGPT into its platform. "I think of it as a writing assistant and a thinking partner," Maggionkalda admits. "
Maggion Karda is one of thousands of business leaders, politicians and academics attending Davos this week to discuss global issues such as the economy, energy and trade, while many are also talking about ChatGPT.
AI research firm OpenAI launched ChatGPT to the public at the end of last year, sparking discussion about how "generative AI" services can fundamentally change the way we live and work. Generative AI services can take advantage of vast online data sets for training and then convert relevant tips into original articles, stories, songs or images.
Many people claim that generative AI will cause artists, teachers, programmers, writers and even journalists to lose their jobs. But others seem to be more optimistic, arguing that this will enable employees to handle to-do lists more efficiently or focus on higher-level tasks.
This is a debate that has attracted many executives, especially after they have conducted their own tests. Christian Lanng, chief executive of Tradeshift, a digital supply chain platform, said that despite years of hype in Silicon Valley, he was shocked by the capabilities demonstrated by ChatGPT.
Langer also uses ChatGPT to compose emails and says it is almost no different from handwritten emails. He even used ChatGPT to complete part of the accounting work, and Tradeshift currently employs professional accounting firms in charge of financial matters.
So far, ChatGPT is mostly regarded as a novelty, indicating the future direction of development. It relies on OpenAI's GPT-3.5 language model, but this model is now out of date. A more advanced version of GPT-4 is under development and is expected to be released this year.
But critics point out that ChatGPT has made many mistakes and clearly lacks human empathy. For example, a science news publication was forced to make several major corrections to an article written by ChatGPT, and New York City's public schools have banned students and teachers from using it. However, the software or similar program may soon sweep the business community.
Microsoft, the investor of OpenAI, has announced that its tools (including GPT-3.5, programming assistant Codex and image generator Dall-E 2) are now fully available to business customers through a service called Azure OpenAI Service, and ChatGPT will be added soon.
"I think these technologies act as copilots, helping people do more with less money," Satya Satya Nadella, Microsoft's chief executive, told an audience at Davos this week.
Maggion Karda supports a similar view and hopes to integrate generative AI into this year's Coursera curriculum. For students who do not have access to face-to-face classroom teaching or one-on-one communication with subject experts, this is an opportunity to make learning more interactive.
He acknowledges that challenges such as generative AI helping to cheat and ensuring accuracy need to be addressed. He is also concerned that the increasing use of generative AI may not be entirely good for society. For example, people may not be as agile in thinking as they used to, because writing helps to deal with complex ideas and hone their skills.
However, Maggion Karda believes that swift action is necessary. "anyone who does not use this technology will soon fall into a serious disadvantage," he said. I'm just thinking about the impact of using this tool on cognitive ability. I am much more efficient and productive than before. "
