Their quarterly revenue declined again in the fourth quarter of last year after 11 quarters, and is expected to decline even more in the next quarter.

TSMC's revenue decline means that their capacity utilization will decline. At the end of last year, it was reported that TSMC's overall capacity utilization is expected to fall to 80% in the first half of this year, with the biggest decline in 7nm and 6nm processes, and capacity utilization in 5nm and 4nm processes is also expected to decline from January.

For 5nm / 4nm, which has become a major source of revenue for TSMC, industry insiders say capacity utilization will fall to about 75 per cent in the first quarter and below 70 per cent in the second quarter.

As TSMC's main source of revenue, if the capacity utilization of 5nm / 4nm process drops further in the second quarter, it will lead to a further decline in their revenue from this process, and if other processes cannot effectively make up for it, their revenue may continue to decline month-on-quarter in the second quarter.
