CTOnews.com, January 19 (Xinhua)-- Apple today released a new Beta beta of HomePod 16.3 software, which brings new feature support to the first and second generations of HomePod and HomePod mini.

With the installation of HomePod software 16.3 Beta, support for temperature and humidity sensing has been added to both HomePod mini and HomePod II.

HomePod mini used to have dormant temperature and humidity sensors, and now Apple has finally activated it, allowing temperature and humidity sensing to be activated in home automation and devices.

With voice recognition, HomePod can hear smoke or carbon monoxide alarms, recognize such sounds and send notifications directly to the user's iPhone. The new built-in temperature and humidity sensors measure the indoor environment, allowing users to set automation, such as closing the curtains or turning on the fan when the room reaches a certain temperature.

With Siri, customers can control a single device without having to do it, or create scenes, such as having multiple smart home devices start working at the same time in the morning, or setting up recurring automated operations such as "Hey Siri, open the curtains at sunrise every morning". When users use Siri to control accessories such as heating that cannot be turned on or off with the naked eye, or when they control accessories located in different rooms, HomePod will issue a new confirmation sound. Reproduced environmental sound effects such as ocean, forest and rain will be further integrated into the experience, allowing customers to add new sounds to scenes, automation and alarms.

CTOnews.com learned that users can also visually manipulate, view, and manage accessories in a redesigned home App. Home App offers new categories such as "environment", "light" and "security", as well as a new multi-location view that makes it easy for users to set up and control smart homes.

HomePod's Find My integration also allows users to ask Siri for the location of friends and family.

Optimized audio tuning improves the clarity of voice content such as podcasts and audiobooks, while in the first generation of HomePod, the volume control is updated to make finer adjustments at lower volume.

HomePod software version 16.3 includes support for new HomePod features. This update also includes bug fixes and stability improvements.

-temperature and humidity sensing functions can measure indoor climate through HomePod (Generation 2) and HomePod mini

-remade ambient sounds are more immersive and can now be added to scenarios, automation, and alerts in Home applications

-on HomePod, Find My now allows users to ask Siri for the location of their friends and family (if they have shared it), and to set up regular home automation by using your voice

-the Siri confirmation tone will now be played to indicate when the smart home request will be completed. These accessories may not show obvious changes or may be located in different rooms.

-Audio tuning optimizes voice content such as podcasts to make HomePod (Generation 2) and HomePod (Generation 1) clearer

-updated the volume control of HomePod (Gen 1) for finer adjustment at lower volume

The official update of HomePod Software 16.3 will be released to the public sometime next week and can be installed on HomePod devices using devices running iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3 or macOS Ventura 13.2. These updates will bring new features to the existing HomePod and enable new features for the HomePod second-generation smart speaker device, which was launched on February 3.
