Thanks to CTOnews.com users Sentinel, Tsurukawa, Alucard, Dest1n, KFParis for their clue delivery! CTOnews.com Apple today introduced new 5B59 firmware for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, the original AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, up from the 5B58 firmware released in November.

Apple did not provide release notes for the AirPods firmware update, but a supporting release document provided by the company showed that the 5B59 firmware update included "bug fixes and other improvements" and no other details.

There is no standard way to upgrade AirPods software, but firmware is usually installed OTA when AirPods are connected to iOS devices. Put the AirPods in the charging case, connect them to the power supply, and then pair the AirPods with an iPhone or iPad, and you should be able to upgrade.

CTOnews.com partners can check AirPods or AirPods Pro firmware by following these steps:

Connect AirPods or AirPods Pro to iOS devices

Open the Settings application

Click General

Click About

Select AirPods

Look at the number next to "Firmware version."
