CTOnews.com, January 18, JetBrains recently released a report on the State of the developer ecosystem 2022, which was created based on responses from 29269 developers around the world who participated in the study from May 2022 to July 2022, covering a wide range of topics, including programming languages, tools, technologies, audience characteristics, and even developers' lifestyles.

The report shows that 65% of developers use JavaScript, the most popular programming language, in some way. It is also the most popular major language. TypeScript's share has almost tripled in the past six years, from 12 per cent in 2017 to 34 per cent in 2022.

After surging a few years ago, Python's share has begun to grow steadily, reaching 55 per cent and is now the second largest language after JavaScript. In addition, Python is growing into a major programming language and is catching up with JavaScript. The gap between them is only 1 percentage point, with Python accounting for 32% and jade JavaScript accounting for 33%.

CTOnews.com has learned that declining programming languages include PHP, Ruby, Objective-C, and Scala.

Key points of the report:

75% of coding communities participate in Web development and 66% participate in back-end Web development.

Python is the second most popular programming language, and its position is growing. As one of the major languages, its performance is better than that of Java and narrows the gap with JavaScript.

According to community responses, AI / ML is the most promising technology and Rust is the most promising programming language.

One out of every two developers plans to adopt a new language. The next preferred languages are Go, Rust, Kotlin, TypeScript, and Python.

The most widely used programming language in the world is JavaScript.

TypeScript is the fastest growing programming language.

The most popular programming languages are Kotlin, C #, Python, Rust, and Java.

The least popular programming languages are Perl, Visual Basic, Delphi, and C.
