CTOnews.com January 18 news, recently, China Telecom joined hands with industry partners in Hangzhou to complete the country's first 5G customized network power scene RedCap technical verification.

This test is based on the 5G customized network power solution released by China Telecom Group, and verifies the key contents of RedCap in the smart grid scenario, such as basic functions, service rate, time delay, network coverage and so on.

The test results show that RedCap can meet the needs of power distribution automation, second accurate negative control, distributed photovoltaic and other application scenarios, and will effectively promote the application of RedCap technology in 5G smart grid scenarios.

CTOnews.com learned that the private network test was jointly completed by China Telecom Zhejiang Branch, Zhejiang Electric Power, Tianyi 5G Internet of things Joint Open Lab, Huaxin Design Institute and Huawei RedCap technical team, to fully verify the capability of RedCap in the grid production control zone scenario, and lay a solid foundation for the wide application of 5G RedCap in the power industry in the future.

RedCap is the core technology of 3GPP R17 protocol standard for medium-and high-speed IoT scene definition. The lightweight 5G terminal is defined, and the terminal cost, size and power consumption are reduced by simplifying the number of end-to-side antennas and transceiver bandwidth. At the same time, 5G native capabilities such as network slicing, low delay and high reliability, and UPF sinking are supported, which can significantly reduce the cost of 5G power terminals while ensuring end-to-end service requirements in power scenarios, further lower the threshold for industry use of 5G, inject new kinetic energy into 5G enabling smart grid, and accelerate the construction of digital power grid and new power system.
