CTOnews.com, January 18, according to RUNTO data, shipments of BOE flexible OLED panels reached 7950 million in 2022, an increase of 22.6% over 2021. Of this total, shipments to Apple's iPhone reached 3100 million pieces, up 89 per cent from 2021.

As early as the end of 2021, BOE has implemented the import of OLED panels from almost all major mobile phone brands around the world, including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, and Glory.

In 2022, BOE's small-size panel business, in addition to the glory brand Magic Vs folding project and Huawei brand Mate 50 Pro delivery project, the focus of attention is the supply of Apple iPhone.

Although the supply of BOE to iPhone 13 was adversely affected in the first half of the year, it was lower than expected, but in the second half of the year, thanks to the introduction of iPhone 14, shipments increased by more than 140% compared with the first half, and was close to the high water level of 5 million pieces a month at the end of the year.

For the whole year, BOE shipped 3100 OLED phone panels to Apple, up 89% from 2021, according to RUNTO. CTOnews.com has learned that BOE's overall OLED iPhone supply share of Apple's iPhone 12, 13 and 14 models has exceeded 15 per cent in 2022, compared with less than 10 per cent in 2021.

The next goal is product development for iPhone 15 and LTPO OLED.

Next, BOE's goal is to complete Apple's mass production delivery and LTPO import to iPhone 15 by 2023.

According to the upstream and downstream industry chain information, all four iPhone 15 phones to be launched by Apple in the second half of this year will use Hole exclamation point digging panels (the iPhone 14 series is 2 models with Hole). The low-end standard and Plus versions will use LTPS, and the high-end Pro and Pro Max will use LTPO OLED panels. Throughout 2023, Apple plans to purchase a total of about 101 million flexible OLED panels for iPhone 15.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus,BOE for the new models have received a panel purchase offer from Apple. According to industry estimates, Samsung (SDC) will supply 5500 million tablets, LGD will supply 28 million, and BOE will supply 1800 million. Among them, LGD since last year LTPO certification has been poor, delayed until October of that year began to supply LTPO panels to iPhone 14, SDC seized a lot of share. LGD will continue to supply LTPS and LTPO products in 2023.

The specific final shipments of BOE need to observe the certification and mass production progress of iPhone 15 in 2023, as well as the product progress of key competitor LGD. If 1800 million pieces are completed, the share of BOE's new iPhone panels will triple to about 18% in 2023, up from 6% of iPhone 14 in 2022.

Other key growth drivers for BOE over the next three years, in addition to LTPO, include Apple's OLED, Mini LED and folding screens for IT.
