CTOnews.com, January 17 (Xinhua)-- car rental companies Hertz (Hertz) and Uber (Uber) said on Tuesday that by 2025, the two companies will provide up to 25000 electric cars to be rented to Uber's drivers in the European capital.

The lease agreement, which includes models from Tesla and Polestar, will be launched in London this month. The program will also be extended to other European capitals, including Paris and Amsterdam, in 2023.

Uber declined to provide any details about the weekly rent, but the figure may be similar to that in the US, where Tesla or Polestar's weekly rent is about $330, including maintenance and insurance costs.

Uber said that working with Hertz's electric vehicles has made them very popular in the United States. About 38000 electric car drivers made 2000 million trips in the United States, Canada and Europe in the third quarter of 2022-a fivefold increase over the same period last year, the company said.

Uber's active electric car drivers around the world will save more than 1250 million gallons of gasoline by 2022, the company said.
