Delta Electronics (the company that makes Google TV remote controls) announced the reference design of the new Google TV remote control on CES 2023.

The new remote control design eliminates the battery directly and uses solar photovoltaic panels as a source of power instead. The new remote control can be self-charged, whether in sunlight or indoor lighting, which means it will never run out of power or require you to replace the battery yourself.

The remote control is likely to be used in the upcoming new Chromecast TV stick, replacing the 4K Chromecast product launched in 2020. Of course, we may also see Hisense, TCL and other Google TV partners adopt similar designs.
