On January 16, according to foreign media reports, Audi's global car sales increased by 26% year-on-year to 420700 units in the fourth quarter of 2022. Of this total, global sales of all-electric vehicles reached a record 41200, up 42 per cent from a year earlier.

For the whole of 2022, the brand's car sales fell nearly 4 per cent from 2021 to 1.61 million. Of this total, global sales of all-electric vehicles were 118196, up 44.3 per cent from 81894 in 2021.

Audi's sales of all-electric vehicles have increased significantly because the company "systematically continues its electrification strategy".

In June 2021, Audi announced that it would stop producing diesel and gasoline cars by 2033 as part of an industry-wide shift to greener electric vehicles.

In late June 2022, Audi Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Marcus Dussmann (Markus Duesmann) said that the company planned to introduce only electric cars to the market from 2026.

In December 2022, Audi announced its latest future development plan, which will phase out the production of fuel vehicles and transition to full production of electric vehicles in the next few years.
