The two concept cars retain the appearance of the Corolla AE86 coupe launched in the 1980s, but the power part has been upgraded to pure electric and hydrogen power.

First of all, the Toyota AE86 H2 concept car, from the name can know this concept car owner hydrogen power. The car is based on the Trueno body, which is Fujiwara Takumi's car. The classic black-and-white body is adopted, and the front of the car is designed with flip lights. The powertrain uses the same hydrogen power as Toyota's Mirai, converting the "4A-GE" 1.6L four-cylinder gasoline engine into a hydrogen-fueled trunk with two hydrogen storage tanks. Toyota says the AE86 H2 concept car can still provide drivers with the sound and noise of an internal combustion engine.

Another AE86 concept car is the AE86 BEV, which is based on the Levin body. The appearance of the whole car is the same as that of the H2 concept car in black and white, but the lights are not turned over. The car uses the same drive motor as Toyota's flat-road hybrid and is equipped with the same battery pack as the new Prius. In addition, some parts of the car are shared with Lexus.

Surprisingly, the car is also equipped with a manual gearbox.

CTOnews.com learned that Toyota has not yet confirmed that the powertrain of the two concept cars will be mass produced, but president Akio Toyoda said they were considering it.
