CTOnews.com, January 15 (Xinhua)-- Boston Laboratory has successfully allowed blind aging mice to regain their eyesight, develop smarter and younger brains, and build healthier muscle and kidney tissue, according to CNN Radio.

David Sinclair, a professor of genetics at the Blavatnik Institute at Harvard Medical School, co-director of the Paul F. Glenn Center and an anti-aging expert, said experiments have shown that aging is a reversible process that can develop "forward and backward at will".

The paper, published on Thursday in Cell, challenges the existing view of aging: aging is the result of genetic mutations that destroy our DNA, which can lead to decreased body function, disease and death.

CTOnews.com learned that Sinclair said in the paper: "what causes us to age is not cell damage, but the loss of information. The cell loses its ability to read its raw DNA, so it forgets how it works-just as old computers may develop damaged software. I call it aging information theory (information theory of aging)."

Jae-Hyun Yang, a genetics researcher at Sinclair Lab and co-author of the paper, said he expected the findings "to change the way we view the aging process and the way we treat aging-related diseases".
