Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, January 14 (Xinhua)-- Swiss company Climeworks announced on Thursday that it has successfully extracted carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and buried it underground to form rocks. The whole process has been verified by independent third-party auditors.
This is the first time a company has successfully extracted carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and "sealed" it underground, bringing permanent carbon removal (permanent carbon removal) to paying users.
Climeworks, a Swiss company co-founded by Christoph Gebald and Jan Wurzbacher in 2009, is a derivative of Switzerland's main technical university, the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.
CTOnews.com learned that the entire process of Climeworks removing carbon dioxide and putting it underground has been certified by independent auditor DNV.
Climeworks does not disclose the cost of removing and storing carbon dioxide, but it is usually not low, as it was previously reported that it would cost hundreds of dollars to remove a tonne of carbon. Companies and individuals can pay fees to Climeworks to offset their personal emissions.
