The latest tests have found that the power consumption of the RX 7900 series has been greatly reduced in no-load and video mode, and the power consumption in games has been optimized.

It is reported that the driver released by AMD last month is optimized for the power consumption of the RX 7900 series when playing videos. Before optimization, the RX 7900 XT consumes 71W of YouTube video and 81W of XTX GPU RX 7900. After optimization, the power consumption of the two graphics cards is reduced to 46W and 54W respectively, which is still lower than that of RTX 4080 (34W) or Radeon RX 6900 XT (30W).

In addition, foreign media ComputerBase found that the game power consumption of RX 7900 under the new driver has also been optimized, but only in scenarios where the frame rate is limited.

As shown in the image above, in the 1440p resolution game "Doom Eternity", when the frame rate is limited to 144fps, the efficiency of the newly driven RX 7900 XTX is increased by 57% (down 90 W), and the efficiency of RX 7900 XT is increased by 34% (down 57 W). When the frame rate is not limited, there is no significant change in the power consumption of the two graphics cards under the new and old drivers.
