The Ricoh GR series of laptops, launched in 1996, is the only series of small laptops that have spanned a long time, and many of those famous phones lost their brands.

There are five types of GR film machines, but only two lenses are used, 28pm 2.8 and 21cm 3.5, both aspheric lenses.

And Ricoh, like Minolta, unexpectedly removed two lenses and made a limited sale of L39! This shows that Ricoh is very confident in the design of his own lens.

However, on the other hand, there were not many aspheric lenses from Japanese manufacturers at that time, and these aspheric lenses were still attractive to a certain extent.

The GR 28mm/2.8 lens, originally used in Ricoh's portable camera GR1, uses a structure of seven pieces and four groups, using two aspheric lenses. At that time, Leica 28ram 2.8 was the fourth-generation spherical lens, and it was not until 2006 that it launched the 28blade 2.8 lens with an aspheric surface.

This is the advertisement at that time. The GR camera is sold in a limited edition, with a limit of 3000. You may think that 3000 is not much. In fact, 3000 is already a lot. There are 3000 limited copies of those star photo albums released by the Japanese Colour Museum Publishing House, which can not be sold out in 10 years (and some can be sold out in a month), not to mention a lens, which is still an unpopular lens.

The 3000 pieces are 2000 silver and 1000 black, with a caliber of 40.5mm, a full weight of only 180g, an aperture of 2.816, and a half. Follow the lens with a viewfinder, although in fact the Leica M camera already had a 28mm frame at that time.

The port is L39, which is the most general and common port at that time, and it is also convenient to transfer to M.

This lens is very small, much smaller than Leica's fourth generation 28Amo2.8 at that time. The picture below shows that the Leica lens is much larger. Some friends also said, why compare with Leica? In fact, it can also be compared with Mineng 28max 2.8, or ZM28/2.8, then you may not be interested.

What is more important is its performance. Let's take a look at it in general:

Here is the basic picture of this lens, including the design drawing. In fact, its idea is quite novel, because at the beginning of the lens design is to take into account the size and expansion, so only four groups are actually arranged.

From the MTF point of view, the overall ability of the lens is good, its out-of-focus control is good, the overall resolution is also good, because the test standard is not the same as the German head, but as a 2.8aperture lens, its ability is good in the 1990s. There are no ancient MTF images of the previous generation Leica 28x2.8, but they are pretty much the same compared to the 2006 Leica 28peg 2.8. All in all, part of the quality of this lens is good on Leica, and even on the 28mm lens of that era.

In fact, the price of the GR28/2.8 is not cheap. At that time, the price of the Nikon F3 was not completely stopped, and the price was about 120000 yen per piece. But it was much cheaper than the Leica M lens at that time, when the price of the fourth generation 28MB 2.8 was 250,000 yen.

GR21 mm/3.5 in fact, at that time, everyone was addicted to dismantling the lens, Minolta and Pentax, so Ricoh decided to take down the 21mm/3.5 lens on GR21 and sell it.

The independent lens of 21mm / 3.5 is also limited, which is also L39.

In the age when COSINA was not crazy about making a lens, a 21mm paraxial lens is still very attractive. Konica's M-port lens did not do 21mm alone, but made a 21-35 zoom.

And the GR21 is also the laptop with the largest lens angle, this 21 lens is even more distinctive at the time, although the 21mm is not very useful.

The demand for GR21/3.5 is not as large as 28 heads, so it is claimed to be limited to 1500, and about 1700 pieces have been actually produced. It also has a caliber of 40.5, weighs 200 grams and is about the same size as 28. They are all small lenses.

Lens structure 9 pieces 6 groups, more complex wide-angle structure, using 1 aspheric surface.

Because GR21 produces less than GR28 and is not so versatile, it is not famous for 28. Japan has a self-sharpening lens of Abe Optics, AVENON lens, is also made 28 and 21, is also 28: 21 famous.

At a time when COSINA is crazily building 21mm paraxial lenses, even they have two kinds of contract manufacturers for Zeiss (2.8and 4.5), this GR21 is even more unpopular.
