CTOnews.com, January 14 (Xinhua)-- the Retro Pod app has been removed from App Store. The app can "replicate" the iPod experience on iPhone and simulate the "touch, vibration" experience of iPod Classic rollers through touch.

CTOnews.com learned that the Retro Pod app launched on App Store in October last year and has existed on the mall ever since. In early January, the app was launched on the TikTok platform, and the video was viewed nearly 5 million times.

After the short video of the Retro Pod app went viral on the TikTok platform, the number of App Store downloads of the app soared to nearly 500000 before it was removed from the shelves, mainly in January this year.

Neither Apple nor Retro Pod developers commented on the app's removal from App Store. However, foreign technology media 9to5Mac believes that Apple removed the Retro Pod app only after seeing the surge in downloads of the app.

"impersonation" applications are prohibited in the App Store guidelines, especially when these applications try to copy Apple itself. This is not the first time Apple has removed iPod emulation-style apps from App Store. In 2019, the "Rewound" app also "copied" the design of iPod, which quickly became popular and was later removed by App Store.
