Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, January 13, SK Hynix announced that the company's fourth-generation 10nm (1a) DDR5 server DRAM has been certified for compatibility with the new fourth-generation Xeon server processor (codenamed Sapphire Rapids).

SK Hynix said that 1a nano-DDR5 DRAM products using EUV (extreme Ultraviolet) technology have received memory certification supported by Intel's fourth-generation Xeon server processors. The server market, which is actively responding to the growth trend through the DDR5 currently in mass production, will overcome the depressed market situation of memory semiconductors as soon as possible.

After the new generation of servers are listed with CPU, the existing servers need to be replaced, so the sales of high-performance memory will increase sharply accordingly, and DDR5 can meet the requirements of high-performance customers. Experts predict that DDR5 will become the main product in the server DRAM market as soon as possible.

Compared with DDR4, SK Hynix's DDR5 can reduce power consumption by up to about 20% and improve performance by at least 70%, which is expected to provide server customers with high performance power consumption ratio and low carbon emissions.

In the Intel DDR5 certification, SK Hynix also received the second generation of 10 nanometer (1y) DDR5 certification. Accordingly, customers can be provided with 16Gb, 24Gb and other DDR5 products.

CTOnews.com learned that SK Hynix launched the world's first DDR5 DRAM; in October 2020 and offered 24Gb DDR5 samples for the first time in December 2021; in January 2023, 1a nanometer DDR5 server DRAM was certified by Intel.
