CTOnews.com January 13, Stardock engineer Rafael Rivera dug deep into the newly released preview update of Win11 Build 25276 and discovered that Microsoft plans to phase out the diagnostic tool Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) in 2025.

CTOnews.com small class: Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) is called Microsoft support Diagnostic tool in Chinese. MSDT collects information to be sent to Microsoft support. Microsoft support will then analyze this information and use it to determine and resolve any problems that may be encountered on the computer.

An important reason for Microsoft to abandon MSDT is that the tool has been abused by hackers and can be used to execute code remotely (RCE). Last year, security researchers discovered two vulnerabilities, Follina and DogWalk, one of which was unofficially patched.

Microsoft has now returned to the strategy of a major update every three years for Windows, so it is possible to abandon MSDT completely on the upcoming Windows 12 system, thereby improving system security.
