CTOnews.com January 13, the System76 Pangolin series notebooks are lightweight laptops with a 15.6-inch display and an AMD Ryzen processor. Like all System76 computers, they come pre-installed with GNU / Linux distributions.

When Pangolin was first introduced a few years ago, it was originally equipped with an AMD Ryzen 4000U processor. Later, System76 released an updated model with a Ryzen 5000U chip. Currently, the Ryzen 6000U model is under development.

The latest version will be equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor, 15.6in, 144Hz, 1920 x 1080 pixel frosted display, LDDR5-6400 memory up to 32GB and PCIe Gen 4 NVMe storage up to 16TB.

With two M.2 slots, the storage can be upgraded, but the use of LPDDR5 memory indicates that the RAM will be welded to the motherboard and cannot be replaced by the user.

It is not clear whether all models will be equipped with Ryzen 7 chips or 144Hz displays. Earlier versions of Pangolin have provided Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processor options, so it would be reasonable to have some different configuration options.

Other features are expected to include 70Wh capacity batteries, WiFi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2, as well as a set of ports, including HDMI 2.0 and Ethernet jacks and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C. The laptop has a magnesium alloy chassis, a 150-degree hinge, a backlit keyboard and a safety switch to ensure that the laptop's 720p webcam can be physically disconnected when not in use.

CTOnews.com learned that the new System76 Pangolin laptop measures 371x248x18mm and weighs 1.79kg. The laptop will go on sale in February, starting at $1299 (about 8755 yuan) and can be pre-installed with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or Poppers OS 22.04 software.
