Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
On January 13, Canary Marketing, a San Francisco-based marketing company, claimed in a lawsuit filed on January 6 that Twitter, a social media company, violated the contract and failed to pay service fees as required, so it claimed $392239.11 (about 2643220.91 yuan) (including interest).
In the lawsuit, Canary Marketing described itself as a marketing agency involved in multi-party business. Canary Marketing designs, packages and distributes branded products for customers such as Google, Slack, KFC and Sephora, according to the company's website.
According to the lawsuit, Canary Marketing provided merchandise to Twitter between June 2020 and August 2022. The contract stipulates that Twitter will pay for the service within 60 days after receiving the invoice.
But the lawsuit alleges that invoices issued by Canary Marketing have not been processed since September 2022. Twitter had not paid for the other two invoices at the time of the lawsuit, the company said.
"Twitter seems to be explaining the terms of the agreement that it has the right to decide whether or not to pay invoices issued by Canary Marketing," the lawsuit said.
In recent months, Twitter has been subject to a number of lawsuits over unpaid fees or rent, and the company has also faced lawsuits from employees.
Since becoming chief executive of Twitter, Elon Elon Musk has been desperately cutting costs, laying off about half of the company's staff in his first week in office. In the new year, Musk continues to explore how to cut operating costs, and layoffs continue. It is reported that Twitter's new plan also includes closing smaller offices outside the main offices in California, New York and London.
It is reported that Musk has stopped paying office rent, including the San Francisco headquarters, and told employees to stop paying to some suppliers. According to another report, he is also considering not paying the promised severance pay to laid-off employees.
There have been recent reports that Twitter is in arrears with the rent of a major office space in Singapore, but sources say the company has since paid late rent.
Other cost-cutting measures for Twitter include refusing to pay employees' work expenses and auctioning office furniture and kitchen equipment.
