The satellite entered the scheduled orbit smoothly, and the launch mission was a complete success. The satellite is mainly used to provide high-throughput communication services for Southeast Asia.

02:10 on January 13, 2023, Xichang Satellite launch Center used the long March II C Yao 61 carrier rocket to launch the Asia-Pacific 6e satellite through the Xichang launch site No. 3 launch site. This mission is the 460th flight of the long March series of carrier rockets.

Asia-Pacific 6e satellite is mainly used to provide high-throughput communication services for Southeast Asia. Asia-Pacific 6e satellite is a geostationary orbit high-throughput communication satellite, based on the DFH-3E small communication satellite platform design, life of more than 15 years. Carrying high-throughput load and using high-throughput satellite communication system based on Ku frequency to provide broadband satellite communication services for the Asia-Pacific region.

Asia-Pacific 6e satellite, developed by the Fifth Institute of Aerospace Science and Technology Group, is an international commercial high-throughput communication satellite developed by China based on the all-electric push platform-Dongfanghong 3E platform. The satellite is equipped with 25 Ku user beams and 3 Ka gateway beams. the total communication capacity exceeds 30Gbps, effectively filling the gap in the broadband communication market in Southeast Asia.

For the first time, the Asia-Pacific 6e satellite will verify a number of key technologies, such as high-power ion and Hall propulsion technology, autonomous flight all-electric propulsion orbit conversion technology, and expandable vector adjustment mechanism technology. at the same time, the Asia-Pacific 6e satellite will adopt the segmented design of the main satellite and independent propulsion module, and a number of new technologies such as autonomous propulsion orbit transfer, inter-satellite separation and independent propulsion module will be verified for the first time.

The successful launch of Asia-Pacific 6e will become a new member of the Asia-Pacific Satellite team following the successful delivery of Asia-Pacific 6D satellites by Great Wall in October 2020.

CTOnews.com learned that the long March 2C is a two-stage rocket with a maximum diameter of 3.35m, which can put a 4-ton satellite into an elliptical orbit several hundred kilometers above the ground, and is known as China's "golden rocket." On the basis of the long March 2C, according to the development idea of "changing the upper bundle to the lower bundle", the long March carrier rocket began to be serialized.

Developed by the General Manager of the first Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd., the payload weight of the long March 2C carrier rocket exceeded 4 tons for the first time in this mission, and the carrying capacity was greatly improved through measures such as structural lightweight and power tapping potential. The long March 2C carrier rocket made its maiden flight on September 9, 1982 and is currently the rocket with the longest service life in China.
