Douyin said that the platform forbids lawbreakers from using the platform services to gain the trust of other users through fraudulent means, or to direct other users to the off-site platform for fraud. At the same time, the platform also reminds the majority of users to pay attention to the safety of their property and beware of being deceived.

CTOnews.com learned that data show that since January this year, Douyin platform has banned a total of 1190366 accounts involved in fraud. At the same time, the Douyin platform combed out ten possible fraudulent acts during the Spring Festival, as follows:

1. Fraud of refund and change of Spring Festival tickets

Criminals contact the victims by posting videos, moments or private messages, falsely claiming that they can buy train tickets or air tickets to induce their families to transfer money and commit fraud.

2. Fraud by impersonating leaders or relatives and friends

Criminals pretending to be leaders or relatives and friends, falsely claiming that the original Douyin account has been changed, by leaving messages, playing videos, chatting videos, etc., to fabricate reasons such as "being ill in hospital and borrowing money in an accident" before the festival, so as to induce the victim to transfer money "in an emergency" and carry out fraud.

3. Fraud of red envelopes during Spring Festival

Criminals use social software and WeChat groups to spread links, use free cash red envelopes of different amounts as bait, induce victims to click on the link, and then fill in identity card number, bank card number, password account and other information, so as to carry out acts such as stealing bank cards.

4. Fraud of part-time "brushing"

Criminals take advantage of the victims' more free time at home during the Spring Festival to publish advertisements to invite the victims to brush orders, buy small goods and immediately cash their rewards. As the amount of the victim's brushing order and the corresponding commission are getting higher and higher, fraudsters defraud high principal and commission on the grounds of system failure, transfer delay, account freeze and so on.

5. Impersonate customer service

With the Spring Festival approaching, users buy a large number of New year goods, and criminals pretend to be e-commerce "customer service" and contact the victims to log in to phishing links and copycat websites on the grounds of "refund", "return", "abnormal order" and "super discount", so as to steal private information and commit fraud.

6. "Pig killing Plate"

During the Spring Festival, the incidence of emotional fraud is also high. Criminals create "high-end human settings" through various platforms, then induce the victims to leave the supervision of the platform to add social software friends such as Wechat and QQ, and then trick the victims to invest and commit fraud.

7. Drug purchase fraud

Approaching the Spring Festival, some of the drugs for COVID-19 were in shortage, and criminals pretended to be the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to send "COVID-19 specific drug reservation information" to entice victims to click on false links containing Trojan websites to obtain personal information to carry out fraud.

8. Fraudulent transactions in online game products

Illegal elements and fraudsters release content videos such as buying and selling game equipment and accounts to induce victims to trade on fake game trading platforms or social software.

9. Naked chat fraud

Lawbreakers use the platform to induce the victim to go to third-party social software for video chat, and then record or copy the victim's naked chat video and photos as a threat to carry out extortion.

10. Handle credit card and loan fraud

In response to the needs of the victims for funds during the Spring Festival, lawbreakers pretended to be loan companies, falsely claiming that "low interest, high quota, no mortgage, no guarantee, quick lending" to tempt the victim to borrow money. Lawbreakers first let the victim fill in the personal information on the false loan website or App, and then use the information to fill in the error, the loan amount is locked and other reasons to induce the victim to pay the so-called deposit or unfreeze deposit to carry out fraud.
