CTOnews.com January 12 news, according to Taiwan Economic Daily reported that TSMC President Wei Zhejia pointed out in the corporate presentation today that this year's semiconductor industry revenue excluding memory is expected to decrease by 4%, wafer generation industry revenue will decrease by 3%, TSMC revenue this year will increase slightly.

TSMC said it expects revenue of about $16.7 billion to $17.5 billion in the first quarter of this year, down about 14.2 per cent month-on-month at a median value of $17.1 billion (about 115.767 billion yuan), due to weak demand in the end market and continued destocking by customers.

Due to the low capacity utilization rate and the economic scale at the initial stage of 3 nm mass production, TSMC's gross profit margin in the first quarter was approximately 53.5% to 55.5%, and the operating profit margin was approximately 41.5% to 43.5%.

CTOnews.com learned that Wei Zhejia, president of TSMC, pointed out that semiconductor industry revenue excluding memory increased by about 10% last year, and wafer generation industry revenue increased by 27%; TSMC revenue was 75.88 billion US dollars (about 513.708 billion yuan), an increase of 33.5%.

Looking forward to 2023, Wei Zhejia said that the semiconductor industry boom is expected to bottom out in the first half of this year and should recover healthily in the second half of the year. Semiconductor revenue excluding memory will decrease by 4%, wafer generation industry revenue will decrease by 3%, and TSMC's dollar revenue is expected to increase slightly.
