CTOnews.com, January 12, Paramount Software announced in November last year when it launched the free version of Macrium Reflect 8.0.7175 that it would no longer maintain the free version of Macrium Reflect from January 1, 2024. Today the company released an update of version 8.0.7279 for the Windows backup and cloning tool.

Paramount has not officially released the update log of the new version, but foreign science and technology media TechSpot managed to find the update description of the version internally. CTOnews.com attached the update log as follows:

Backup Progress

A total progress bar for real-time backup has been added to the Reflect taskbar icon.

Backup blocked

Several customers reported that a jam occurred after the backup was completed, which may hinder the startup of the next backup. We have improved communication between backup instances to prevent potential competitive conditions.

Redeploy

Some customers have noticed poor CPU performance after redeploying to the new hardware. We have improved ReDeploy to reset the CPU driver only when a change in CPU is detected.

On its official product support page, the company has announced that it will no longer provide support. 8.0 is the last free version, but subsequent security patches will be maintained until January 1, 2024.

Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 is the last version to get new features, optimize compatibility, and fix BUG.

Will follow-up security vulnerabilities be fixed?

Yes, security patches will still be available until January 1, 2024. After this date, we will not modify the v8 free code base.

Can I continue to use Macrium Reflect Free?

Yes, you can continue to use the software permanently, and your license to use the software will not be affected.

Does Macrium Reflect Free have any new features or updates for future versions of Windows?

Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 supports Windows versions of Windows XP SP 3.0 and above, including the latest Windows 10 & 11 22H2 versions. There will be no new features or support for future Windows operating system updates.
