Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, January 12 (Xinhua)-- Apple did not launch a new Mac in the fourth quarter of 2022, the first time this has happened in the past 20 years. Apple is likely to launch new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro,CTOnews.com in the first half of this year.
Release date:
Guo Mingyi has said that Apple plans to mass-produce the new 14Universe 16-inch MacBook Pro; in the fourth quarter of 2022, and then Goolman revealed that the new MacBook Pro will be released as early as the end of 2022, and it is now certain that it will be in the first half of this year.
Gurman recently revised his release forecast and believes that Apple is unlikely to choose to release the MacBook Pro in February, most likely at a spring special event in March.
Design
The appearance of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will not change this year. In June 2022, Mark Gurman said that the new MacBook Pro "will not be a fundamentally new product except for faster chips." This means that Apple will stick to the same appearance size.
This shape is more square, with camera bangs at the top of the screen and more connection ports. Apple may choose to return to ports such as SDXC card slots and HDMI. Apple has also reintroduced the popular MagSafe charging port.
Processor:
Goolman has previously said that Apple is working on five Mac models with M2 processors, including M2 Pro and M2 Max 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. This confirms that Apple is likely to stick with the same processor configuration as earlier models, using professional and Max M2 chips to power the new Macbook Pro.
This retains basic M2 for 13-inch MacBook Pro (2022) and MacBook Air (2022), and M1 Ultra for Mac Studio.
The M2 Max chip can provide up to 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores, compared with 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores for M1 Max, Gurman said. Existing M2 typically provides about 20% performance improvement on M1, so this can be a fairly impressive performance leap.
What remains to be discussed is whether these products will use a 5-nanometer or 3-nanometer process. The latter will be another improvement in power and efficiency, but it may not be ready in time. Guo Mingyi, a supply chain analyst, said in 2022 that the next MacBook Pro may still use a 5-nanometer chip, leaving the 3-nanometer process for subsequent models. In a report at the end of August 2022, Guo reiterated these claims, saying that Apple's next batch of MacBook Pro models would not use 3 nanotechnology.
Battery life:
There is no battery improvement between Apple M1 and Apple M2. This means that the 2022 version of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will continue to provide 11 and 14 hours of battery life at full power, respectively.
These numbers are not scary, especially for the 14-inch MacBook Pro model, but they are much better than Apple promised on its Intel-based laptop.
Screen:
There are no reports that Apple will upgrade its MacBook Pro screen, which means that 14-and 16-inch MacBook Pro will still have Liquid Retina XDR screens.
The 14-inch model has a 14.2-inch Mini LED backlit display with a screen resolution of 3024 x 1964 pixels. In addition, it has a XDR brightness of 1000 nits, a HDR content of 1600 nits, and a maximum SDR brightness of 500 nits. By contrast, the larger MacBook Pro offers a 16.2-inch mini LED backlit display with a screen resolution of 3456 × 2234 pixels and a similar level of brightness.
Storage and memory:
Storage options should remain the same, but Apple's new M2 Pro and M2 Max may support higher unified memory. Apple hinted at this when it launched its first M2 MacBook in 2022. For example, the 13-inch MacBook Pro (2022) has the unified memory of 24GB, while the earlier model was 16GB. By contrast, although the 2020 MacBook Air provides 16GB's unified memory, the 2022 model is the largest 24GB.
CTOnews.com learned that current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models offer unified memory for 16GB, 32GB or 64GB, depending on whether you choose M1 Pro or M1 Max chips. I suggest that 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro (2023) models (with M2 Pro or M2 Max chips) may start with 32GB's unified memory, just as Mac Studio (2022) uses M1 Max or M1 Ultra, up to 128GB.
Selling price
Apple may add M2 Pro and Max chips to the MacBook Pro (2023) lineup as an additional, more powerful configuration option for the current lineup.
Apple replaces the M1 Pro / Max version with the M2 Pro / Max version, and the 14-inch and 16-inch models are likely to be priced unchanged, starting at $1999 (about 13533 yuan) and $2499, respectively.
