MacRumors, a foreign technology media, believes in its latest article that Apple has no urgent need to upgrade the iPad mini and may choose to launch the seventh-generation iPad mini next year.

The sixth-generation iPad mini uses the A15 Bionic chip. Apple has lowered the frequency of the chip on the iPad mini, but the performance is at the same level as the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, third-generation iPhone SE, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and third-generation Apple TV 4K.

Apple expects to continue selling these six devices with A15 Bionic chips throughout 2023, which means Apple wants to extend the life of the A15. The sixth-generation iPad mini supports the second-generation Apple Pencil, and Apple has no urgent need to upgrade the device.

While Apple updated the iPad mini every year from 2012 to 2016, updates have become less frequent since then, with only a small update in March 2019 before the 2021 redesign. Apple has obviously lengthened the update cycle of the iPad mini product line, which means that Apple may choose to launch the seventh generation iPad mini next year.
