Microsoft recently announced that Xbox has become the first carbon-aware game console and will optimize update and download plans for all versions of Xbox games to reduce its carbon footprint.

When the user's Xbox is connected to the Internet and regional carbon intensity data is available, all updates and downloads will be scheduled at the time when the most renewable energy is available, rather than the previous "random" wake-up call between 2: 00 a.m. and 6: 00 a.m.

However, to access this feature, you first need to set the power supply on the Xbox to "power off (energy saving)", which will be set automatically by the preview machine. Microsoft says this setting can reduce power consumption by up to 20 times compared with the game console in sleep mode. It is worth noting that remote wake-up is not supported when this option is enabled.

Microsoft's Xbox Series X / S game console will be the first to get this feature, and Xbox One will be updated soon. However, CTOnews.com friends need to note that when this option is enabled for Xbox One games, the startup time of the device will be slower.

Microsoft says the carbon reduction for every two Xbox consoles is set for one year, which is the same as the carbon reduction for a tree for a decade.
