According to CTOnews.com news on January 12, Tianfeng International analyst Guo Mingyi reiterated today that Apple iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with solid-state volume and power buttons, adding that if this change is well received, other high-end devices may follow suit in the future. It is speculated that this will include iPad Pro and perhaps Apple Watch Ultra.

Guo Mingyi previously said that the iPhone 15 Pro model will be equipped with two additional Taptic Engine that will provide tactile feedback when the button is pressed, but the button will not actually move. This is similar to the solid-state Home buttons introduced on iPhone 7 and the Force Touch trackpad on MacBook.

In a series of tweets today, Guo Mingyi pointed out that Cirrus Logic, as the supplier of control IC chips for iPhone's Taptic Engine, will benefit from this change.

Mr Guo said that as a result of this design change, the number of Taptic Engine used in each iPhone would increase from the current one to three. Therefore, the existing Taptic Engine suppliers Lixun Precision (the first supplier) and AAC Technology (the second supplier) will be significant beneficiaries. It is expected that high-end Android phones will also follow Apple's design to create new selling points, which is structurally good for the mobile phone vibration module industry.

CTOnews.com learned that solid-state buttons on the iPhone provide better water resistance and that previously moving parts can be worn or damaged over time. It is expected that the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will still be equipped with traditional physical buttons.
