The retail sales volume of domestic narrow passenger car market reached 2.169 million vehicles in December, up 3.0% year-on-year and 31.4% month-on-month; the cumulative sales volume from January to December was 20.543 million vehicles, up 1.9% year-on-year.

CTOnews.com learned that the cumulative wholesale of 23.154 million vehicles throughout the year, an increase of 9.8% year-on-year; retail sales of 20.543 million vehicles, an increase of 1.9% year-on-year, of which 14.868 million vehicles were retail sales of fuel vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 2.302 million vehicles, and 5.674 million new energy retail sales, a year-on-year increase of 2.687 million vehicles. The penetration rate of new energy vehicles in December was 29.5%, and the penetration rate of new energy vehicles throughout the year was 27.6%.

At the wholesale sales end, BYD, FAW-Volkswagen and Geely ranked among the top three in 2022, with 9 automobile enterprises having annual wholesale sales exceeding one million vehicles. Tesla China's wholesale sales reached 710,000 vehicles in 2022, ranking among the top 15 manufacturers in wholesale sales for the first time.

At the retail sales end, BYD, FAW-Volkswagen, Chang 'an Automobile, SAIC Volkswagen and Geely ranked in the top five, BYD, Chang' an and Geely formed a siege trend against North-South Volkswagen, and there were 6 enterprises with annual retail sales exceeding one million vehicles.

In terms of sales volume of new energy manufacturers, BYD leads with absolute advantage, SAIC GM Wuling and Tesla rank second and third, and the sales volume of new energy vehicles of Geely, GAC Ai 'an, Chery and Chang' an also achieve three-digit high-speed growth year-on-year.

According to the annual sales volume of each model segment market announced by the Association, Nissan Xuanyi, Wuling Hongguang MINIEV and Volkswagen Lavida ranked in the top three in the car market, followed by BYD Qin series and Han series, ranking fourth and fifth, with year-on-year growth of 81% and 132% respectively.

In the SUV market, BYD Song series, Tesla Model Y and Haval H6 ranked in the top three.

In terms of new energy models, BYD is in an absolute leading position in the car and SUV markets. Hongguang MINI performs brilliantly, selling more than 400,000 vehicles a year.
