CTOnews.com learned that KB5022303 and KB5022287 are mandatory Windows cumulative updates because they contain a January 2023 security update for vulnerabilities discovered in previous months. Windows 11 users can install today's update by going to start > Settings > Windows Update and clicking "check for updates".

What's new in Windows 11 KB5022303 and KB5022287 updates:

After installing today's non-secure update, the version number of Windows 11 22H2 (KB5022303) will become 22621.1105 KB5022287 21H2 (KB5022287) will become 22000.1455. Since there were no preview updates during the holiday in December 2022, these cumulative updates only fixed security vulnerabilities and a limited number of errors.

For Windows 11 22H2 and Windows 11 21H2, the following errors have been fixed:

Microsoft has fixed a bug in the local session manager (LSM) that may allow users without administrator privileges to perform functions that only administrators can perform.

Microsoft knows that there are two problems with Windows 11 22H2 that have not been resolved in this update. These problems are that the configuration package does not work as expected and that copying large multi-gigabyte (GB) files through SMB takes longer than expected.
