On the evening of January 11, Beijing time, it was reported that India's Court of Appeal, the National Corporation Law Appeal Tribunal (NCLAT), rejected Google's 93.6 billion rupees (about US $115 million) antitrust fine appeal today and asked Google to pay 10% of the payment first within four weeks.

Last October, India's antitrust regulator, the Competition Commission (CCI), announced an antitrust fine of 93.6 billion rupees against Google for abusing its dominant position in the app store market to promote its own payment system.

Google subsequently appealed the ruling against CCI India. India's Court of Appeal NCLAT rejected Google's appeal today and ordered Google to pay a 10% fine within four weeks. NCLAT also said the next hearing would be held on April 17.

According to CCI, Google requires developers to use its payment system to purchase paid apps and pay for in-app purchases, which constitutes unfair competition and violates relevant regulations. Google, meanwhile, failed to include its own apps, such as YouTube, in its billing system, imposing discriminatory terms and pricing.

In addition to the App Store fine, CCI India announced in October last year that it had fined Google 13.38 billion rupees ($161.95 million) for anti-competitive behavior related to Android mobile devices. Last week, Google appealed the case to India's Supreme Court.
