Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, January 11, according to China General Nuclear Corporation, on January 10, Unit 3 of Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Station, the first "Hualong No.1" nuclear power unit in western China, was successfully connected to the grid for the first time, indicating that the unit has the power generation capacity and has taken another key step towards the goal of commercial operation.

Two units in the first phase of the Fangchenggang nuclear power project were put into commercial operation in 2016 and have accumulated more than 100 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy on the grid, according to China General Nuclear Corporation. Units 3 and 4 of the second phase of the project adopt China's independent third-generation nuclear power technology "Hualong No.1" and are advancing the construction in an orderly manner. In the follow-up of Unit 3, a series of tests will be carried out as planned to further verify that the unit has various performances under commercial operating conditions.

According to reports, Hualong-1 is the third-generation nuclear power technology with independent intellectual property rights in China, and it is also one of the most advanced nuclear power technologies in the world. Hualong-1 uses a number of design features, such as 177 core fuel assemblies, double containment, active and passive combination, to meet the world's highest safety requirements and the latest technical standards. Up to now, CGN has a total of seven "Hualong No.1" nuclear power units under construction.

CTOnews.com learned that the Fangchenggang nuclear power project plans to build six million kilowatt nuclear power units. Data show that after the six units are fully completed, it is expected to provide 48 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity per year, which can reduce standard coal consumption by 14.39 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by about 39.74 million tons per year compared with coal-fired power stations of the same size. this is equivalent to planting 108000 hectares of forest.
