Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Brother Black fly's left hand, South China Daniel Wu and Xiao Zhan Che's clue delivery! CTOnews.com January 11 news, Intel today officially released the fourth generation of Xeon scalable processors (code Sapphire Rapids) and Xeon CPU Max series (code name Sapphire Rapids HBM), as well as Intel data center GPU Max series (code name Ponte Vecchio).

Sapphire Rapids is Intel's first Chiplet-based Xeon processor. It contains 52 CPU models, supports up to 60 cores, and is manufactured using Intel 7 technology. It also supports PCIe 5.0, DDR5 memory and CXL 1.1 interface (type 1 and 2 devices). It provides up to 80 PCIe 5.0 channels, up to 1.5TB-capable DDR5-4800 memory, and up to 350W TDP.

Intel said that unlike any other data center processor on the market, the fourth-generation Xeon family has greatly expanded Intel's specially built workload priority strategy and approach.

Compared with previous generations, fourth-generation Xeon processors can increase average performance per watt of target workloads by 2.9 times when using built-in accelerators, saving up to 70W per CPU in optimized power mode, while minimizing performance loss for specific workloads and reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) by 52 to 66 per cent.

In addition, in terms of manufacturing process, Intel fourth-generation Xeon processors combine up to four Intel 7 process tiles in a single package, using Intel EMIB (embedded Multi-Chip Interconnection Bridge) packaging technology for connection.

In terms of security, Intel fourth-generation Xeon says it will provide the most comprehensive portfolio of confidential computing products among all data center chip providers in the industry. Intel is the only chip provider to provide application isolation for data center computing through Intel Software Protection extension (Intel SGX), which provides the smallest range of attacks today for private, public, and cloud-to-edge confidential computing.

In addition, Intel's new virtual machine (VM) isolation technology Intel Trust Domain extension (Intel TDX) can migrate existing applications to confidential environments and will make its debut in Microsoft Azure, Aliyun, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud.

CTOnews.com learned that Intel's fourth-generation Xeon Sapphire Rapids processors start at $415 (currently about 2814 yuan) and the highest price is $17000 (about 115000 yuan).

Intel said that customers and partners such as Amazon AWS, Cisco, Cloudera, CoreWeave, Dell Technology, Dropbox, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Google Cloud, Hewlett-Packard, IBM Cloud, Tide, IONOS, Lenovo, Los Alamos National Lab, Microsoft Azure, Nvidia, Oracle Cloud, OVHcloud, phoenixNAP, RedHat Red Hat, SAP, Ultramicro, Telefonica and VMware will all adopt fourth-generation Xeon processors.

In addition, Intel announced on February 15 that it will launch its Xeon W3400 and W2400 workstation series processors, the standard AMD thread tearing PRO series.

The Intel Xeon W-x400 series will include versions that offer up to 56 cores, 350W power consumption and 4.8GHz, as well as special X-Series models that support overclocking.

However, Intel did not disclose other details of the Xeon W-x400 series, but confirmed two extremely strong product lines: Wmur3400, Wmur2400 and the upcoming W790 platform, which will support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory for the first time.
