CTOnews.com, January 11, Imagination Technologies today announced the launch of IMG DXT GPU, bringing scalable light pursuit technology to mobile gamers.

Imagination says IMG DXT, the first product in the D-series, enables mobile device manufacturers to integrate light pursuit technology into their system-on-chip (SoC) based on their design goals.

According to reports, this GPU can expand from an area-saving 0.5RAC (light acceleration cluster) configuration to a high-performance 4-RAC design, covering a variety of applications from simple shadows in hybrid solutions to advanced light-chasing images in 3A masterpieces.

CTOnews.com learned that IMG DXT supports Vulkan's fragment shading rate (FSR) technology. FSR reduces the number of clips processed and improves graphics performance without affecting visual quality as much as possible, while improving the efficiency of light pursuit by reducing the amount of light cast into the scene.

In addition, the series's flagship product, the DXT-72-2304, has 72 GTexels / s and 2.5 TFLOP FP32 computing power. Compared with the previous generation, its maximum single core performance has been improved by 50%. The performance density per unit area of DXT core is 20% higher than that of IMG CXT GPU, and the power consumption is greatly reduced.
