Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, January 11, Roku TV streaming platform has provided support for dozens of TV models, but Roku itself has not built its own TV. Now, Roku is beginning to change, and the economical Roku Select and Plus series are the first TV products developed and released by the company, which will be available this spring.

Roku released its first televisions using Roku TV OS. In addition, to avoid confusion with other Roku OS televisions, the company's own models are called the Roku Select and Roku Plus series.

CTOnews.com learned that the Roku Select series includes 1080p and 4K models, all of which are equipped with standard Roku voice remote controls. Plus series televisions are 4K, including Roku Voice Remote Pro.

The new TV will launch 11 models, ranging from 24 inches to 75 inches, on both lines. Both production lines will be priced at low prices, starting at $119for the 24-inch Select and $999for the 75-inch Plus.

As Roku's first attempt in television, the Select and Plus series are more budget-oriented, emphasizing Roku TV platforms and functions, but do not use more advanced display technologies, such as mini-LED backlight systems or quantum dot panels.

Amazon's first-party TV has adopted a similar approach: starting with a relatively basic model and then updating it with quantum dot technology, Fire TV Omni QLED has significantly improved the overall performance of the TV.

However, the low price of Roku's own TV does not mean that the company is shunning more advanced display technology. Roku also announced the reference design of its first OLED Roku TV. Because Roku licenses its Roku TV platform to other countries, it produces reference designs to use as a framework for other manufacturers to develop these TVs.

All previous Roku TV reference designs, and all previous Roku TV models produced to date, are LED backlit LCD LCD TVs. OLED is a more advanced and more expensive panel type, usually used for high-end TVs, while the OLED reference design means seeing OLED TV devices using Roku TV next year.
