CTOnews.com, January 11, GitHub users now have a new option when scanning code on their platform, and code scanning options are provided in the default settings to help developers find errors and security vulnerabilities more quickly. "the default settings simplify the process of starting scanning code on Python, JavaScript, and Ruby repositories," said Walker Chabbott, product manager at GitHub.

Chabbott went on to say in his blog post:

You can now enable code scanning with just a few clicks without using .yaml files, helping open source developers and enterprises simplify code scanning settings so that they can protect more software.

Once enabled, you will immediately begin to gain insight from code scans in your code to help you quickly find and fix vulnerabilities without disrupting your workflow.

CTOnews.com mini-class: code scanning is a tool on GitHub that allows users to analyze their code. By scanning the code in its repository, users can locate coding errors and security vulnerabilities. The new default settings will help users perform this operation more efficiently.

To access this option, go to the Settings2 tab on the GitHub repository and select the Code security and analysis section under the Security option. Here you can see the new code scan settings tool, you just need to select "Settings" and select "default".

When you click default, you will automatically see a summary of the configuration tailored to the contents of the repository. This includes the language detected in the repository, the query package that will be used, and the events that will trigger the scan. In the future, these options will be customizable.
