After the fake application was exposed, it was removed from App Store.

Anyone who pretends to have an OpenAI account on a ChatGPT app can use ChatGPT for free on the Internet, but it has also attracted the attention of fraudulent developers. An app called "ChatGPT ChatGPT AI With GPT-3" gives the impression that ChatGPT bot is the official app, but it really has nothing to do with Open AI, the creator of ChatGPT, or bot itself.

The app charges users a subscription fee of $7.99 a week or $49.99 a year to use the bot indefinitely and eliminate ads. The application and its bot are crude and sometimes provide general or completely irrelevant responses to users.

The fake ChatGPT app once soared to the second most popular productivity app in the United States, indicating its popularity. The app has nearly 12000 ratings, including a large number of negative comments. "this is a fake app," one comment said. "it's just a disguised OpenAI endorsement. It's terrible." Another user said. CTOnews.com has learned that the app has passed Apple's App Store review process several times since it was first released three weeks ago.

The developer behind the application is Social Media Apps & Game Sports health Run Hiking Runing fitness tracking, and there are other crude applications on the platform, including "Activity Lock Screen Widget 16" and "BetterTrack Ride Hike Run Swim" applications. Both the application name and the developer name seem to be deliberately searching for relevance through "keyword" matching.

Apple's App Store is facing an uphill battle against fraud and shoddy apps, some of which earn millions of dollars. Apple has previously promoted App Store as a "trusted platform" with apps that "meet the highest standards of privacy, security and content".
