Eliasen said there is a serious mistouch function in the iPhone 14 model and Apple Watch's "car accident detection" function, especially when users are involved in outdoor sports such as skiing.

Eliasen said that after receiving these false positives, dispatchers must send emergency personnel to the location unless dispatchers call to confirm that it is a false alarm. In some cases, this involves the dispatch of rescue teams, law enforcement personnel, EMS personnel, etc.

"false positives take up a lot of time and resources in our dispatch center," Eliasen said. "when dispatchers are unable to verify whether they are true or false, they have to send rescue workers out, which is very stressful for our department. After all, our original staff is very tight."

CTOnews.com learned that after the "accident detection" function caused a serious false alarm, emergency workers recommended that users turn off the "car accident detection" function. Emergency workers said: "in the past few weeks, Cook County and Sterns County have encouraged residents to check equipment settings and turn off the 'car accident detection' function when they are not needed to participate in activities such as snowmobiling or skiing."
