January 11, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) announced that Apple lost the case, Masimo won the first round of U. S. trade cases banning the import of Apple Watch. Apple infringes Masimo's patent on blood oxygen technology.

Masimo first sued Apple in 2020, alleging that Apple Watch infringed 10 patents and was suspected of stealing trade secrets by hiring key people. Subsequently, Masimo sued again in 2021 and specifically pointed out that the sale of Apple Watch Series 6 should be banned because the device infringed five patents on blood oxygen measurement technology.

In October 2022, Apple filed two lawsuits accusing Masimo of infringing several patents on its W1 smartwatches. Apple said it was in the previous lawsuit that Masimo "carefully studied Apple's intellectual property" and obtained confidential information.

In addition, ITC confirmed that Apple's Apple Watch model with an ECG function infringes the patents of medical device maker AliveCor.
